Joint Task Force

Birmingham Community Charter High School has formed a Joint Task Force in response to community concerns.  BCCHS is the largest school on the Birmingham Educational Complex which also includes:  High Tech LA, Magnolia Science Academy 2, Independence Continuation High School, Daniel Pearl Magnet High School, Lake Balboa College Prep, Mulholland Middle School, as well as the LAUSD Local District Northwest and the local area Los Angeles School Police Department offices.

The goal of the task force is to address community concerns of school safety, and with the interactions that our students attending our local schools are having with our community neighbors and businesses. Our attempt is to reduce the amount of criminal activity, violence, and loitering in our area neighborhoods, shopping centers, and businesses.  The foundation of the Joint Task Force consists of representatives from the following:

  • Birmingham Community Charter High School
  • Daniel Pearl  Magnet High School
  • Los Angeles Unified School District
  • Los Angeles City Attorneys Office
  • Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office
  • Los Angeles School Police Department
  • Los Angeles Police Department
  • Lake Balboa Neighborhood Council
  • Neighborhood Watch Block Captains

The Joint Task Force meets on a regular basis to discuss community concerns, and develop strategies to respond to them.  Law enforcement and school personnel regularly conducts visits and sweeps of local shopping centers and business to assist in the enforcement of the City of Los Angeles "Day Time Curfew" law, and the enforcement and reduction of criminal activity.
