Birmingham Community Charter High School is taking a critical step in creating a new communication path by sending alerts and advisories to our school community by partnering with Nixle. Nixle is a web-based service used by a variety of governmental agencies, including law enforcement and schools, to disseminate time-sensitive information via e-mail, SMS/text messages, and social media posts.
Nixle messages from BCCHS may include, but are not limited to, important information on school emergencies (lockdown, fire, evacuation, school closure, etc.), incidents that may impact traffic conditions in the area (accidents, road closures, traffic signal malfunctions, etc.), and other important non-emergent news or events BCCHS staff feel is both proximate and personally relevant to our school community.
Over the next few weeks of implementation of this new system, school staff will be importing parent/guardian cell phone numbers from our Aeries Student Information System into the Nixle parent platform. Once this is completed, BCCHS staff will send out a welcome message to parents/guardians. It is imperative that parent/guardian contact information is up to date in our Aeries system in order to receive these alerts successfully. If parents/guardians need to update this information, we ask that you contact your student’s Grade Level Academy office immediately. Parents/guardians may also text the following message to receive text alerts from BCCHS:
