The English Learners Advisory Council (ELAC) serves the purpose of determining how to best allocate school funds to support our English Learner (EL) students.

ELAC Comité compuesto de padres, personal, y miembros de la comunidad diseñado específicamente para aconsejar a los oficiales escolares en los servicios del programa de aprendices de Ingles.

 

BENEFICIOS DE LA MEMBRESIA DE PADRES

  •        Involucrado en la toma de decisiones del programa de EL
  •        Entendimiento más profundo del proceso de reclasificación
  •        Desarrollo de relaciones con maestros y administración

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED !!!

ELAC is a committee comprised of parents, staff, and community members specifically designated to advise school officials on English Learners program services.

There are many benefits of parent membership including

  •       Involvement in decision-making of EL program
  •       Deeper understanding of reclassification process
  •       Developing relationships with teachers and administration

If you are interested, please fill out the attached statement and return to Margarita Ponce at BCCHS.

 

The remaining meetings are scheduled to begin promptly at 8:45 am in the Parent Center on the following dates:

● Friday, December 7, 2018

● Tuesday, February 5, 2019

● Friday, April 5, 2019.

 

 

Agendas for regularly-scheduled meetings will be posted on the school website at least 72 hours in advance.

If you are interested in becoming a voting member of the ELAC, please fill out the Statement of Intent to Run form attached below and return it to Margarita Ponce in the Parent Center.

The first ELAC meeting for the 18-19 school year occurred at the

Multilingual Welcome Dinner on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Multi Purpose Room (MPR).

At the dinner, there will be an ELAC Orientation and review of Birmingham's EL Program. Please refer to the attached invitation to the dinner.
