Athletics

Through Birmingham's rich athletic tradition, student-athletes build integrity, character, a healthy lifestyle and a positive mental attitude. Our campus contains some of the finest athletic facilities in the Los Angeles area. An 11,000 seating capacity football and all-weather track and field stadium, three gyms, two fenced softball diamonds, a state of the art baseball field, an Olympic pool, tennis courts, and a lacrosse and soccer field surround the halls, auditoriums and classrooms.

CIF

Birmingham Community Charter athletics is a member of the CIF Los Angeles City Section. The section is committed to providing quality support services in a respectful and gracious manner. They aim to enhance member schools’ abilities to manage safe and fair interscholastic athletic programs, and increase participation opportunities for students and member schools through expanding sports, divisions and levels of play. Spectator Policy

Birmingham, in association with the CIF, promotes interscholastic events and sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is an essential part of any athletic competition and is expected from athletes, coaches, officials, and fans. As a spectator/fan (student or adult), the expectation is that you are to be an example of positive encouragement while supporting student-athletes, coaches, and game officials. Encouraged behavior includes:

Enthusiastic support of your team.
Good sportsmanship.
Family friendly atmosphere.
Commitment to safety.
Welcoming attitude to all fans and visitors.

Unacceptable behavior includes:

Being disruptive or unruly.
Foul/abusive language or obscene gestures.
Rudeness to fellow fans or event personnel.
Entering the playing surfaces (court, field, pool deck, etc.) at any time.
Use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal substances.

Fans who display unacceptable behaviors will be subjected to sanctions, including refusal of admittance, removal, and/or arrest. Any athletic official, including but not limited to, contest officials, Athletic Director, Executive Director, Administrative Directors, game site supervisors, and anyone else in an administrative role on the site, may uphold enforcement of an ejection.

Absolutely no drugs, alcohol, or tobacco are permitted onsite at any time. Drugs and alcohol are prohibited at both on and off-campus events associated with the team (including but not limited to team gatherings, team travel, and team dinners). Attending a school event under the influence of alcohol or drugs will result in removal from the venue and may result in disciplinary action.
