Eligibility Requirements
Students interested in participating in high school athletics should familiarize themselves with the following general regulations and athletic policies.

Academic Requirement
- A minimum of a 2.00 GPA is required:
- Upon making the team (grading period immediately preceding the start of the season is verified),
- At the twelve-week report card, and
- On the final semester report card.
- In order to be eligible, any student entering from eighth grade must have achieved an unweighted 2.00 grade-point average, on a 4.00 scale, in enrolled courses at the conclusion of the previous grading period.
- For example: Incoming freshmen must have a 2.00 GPA at the conclusion of their eighth-grade final semester.
Age Requirement
- Students may not practice or compete in any contest at any high school until they have graduated from the eighth grade.
- A student whose nineteenth birthday is attained prior to June 15 shall not participate or practice on any team in the following school year. A student whose nineteenth birthday is on or before June 14 is ineligible.

Attendance
Enrollment
- Students must be enrolled full-time at Birmingham Community Charter in order to be eligible to participate in athletics.
- Students cannot have dual enrollment in two different schools at the same time. Students may not participate in any athletic meeting, practice or competition at a new school until they have been officially withdrawn from their former school.
- Eighth graders who have not graduated from middle/junior high school may not participate in any athletic communication(s) conducted by any high school coach that is not part of a school-wide high school presentation until May 1 and only if the student has registered for classes at Birmingham.
Medical Insurance
All students must have valid medical insurance to participate in athletics.
- A copy of the student's medical insurance card must be included in the submission of the athletic clearance forms via Home Campus.

Sports Physical
- All students must have valid physical exam completed by authorized medical personnel in order to participate in athletics.
- Only the Birmingham approved physical form can be used for clearance.
- All questions on the form must be answered, and doctors must stamp, date and sign the forms.
- Tryout eligibility requires the completion of a physical exam before the first tryout date. Please see the tryouts webpage for more information.
- Cleared physicals are valid for one year from the date of the examination.

Completed physical forms must be submitted via the Athletic Clearance website at the time you are registering your athlete.
