The McKinney-Vento Assistance Act
The McKinney-Vento Act defines homeless students as individuals who:
- stay in a shelter
- share housing with others due to the loss of housing or economic hardship
- live in a car, park, campground, abandoned building, or other inadequate accomodation
- temporarily live in a motel or hotel due to loss of housing
- a student under the age of 18 living apart from parent(s) or guardian
