Advanced Dance
This course will cover dance technique in the styles of ballet/lyrical, modern/ contemporary, jazz, hip hop and a variety of partner dancing. Also, students will explore improvisation, choreography, and dance history. The focus of this course will be on technique, performance and choreography. Additionally, students will learn from guest choreographers in various cultural and contemporary dance forms. Students will learn how to create their own choreography for our winter and spring dance concerts and seasonal competitions.
The student will be able to perform dance in the styles of ballet/lyrical, modern, jazz, hip hop at an advanced level, choreograph, making creative choices moving through levels, making interesting patterns through space, and utilizing the choreographic elements, demonstrate a sense of body awareness while moving in dance, and explore dance as an art form.
