Painting 1AB is a fun year-long course in which students will explore, experience and create a variety of painting techniques, media, and learn about historical and influential painters throughout history. Different types of materials will be used such as; tempera, acrylic, ink, watercolor, paper and canvas are used to create works of art. Students will learn the Principles of Art & Elements of Design, Color Theory, different art techniques and will apply them into their own art. In addition they will learn how to view, understand and critique artwork. They will learn how artists created their own styles and techniques as well as discovering their own individual art style. The course introduces a variety of paintings such as: cave paintings, impressionism, graffiti art, modern art, cubism, realism, abstract, pop art, abstract expressionism, landscape and figures.

In this Advanced Painting course, you will be learning about art making techniques, the artistic process, and art history. You will learn how to view and critique artwork. This course fulfills the UC/CSU A-G requirements and adheres to the guidelines of the CA State Standards for the Visual Arts. Artwork is
established from the Principles and Elements of Design. This course will help you develop your artistic skills and prepare you think creatively outside the classroom.
